WHAT YOUR HEART KNOWS
PSALMS - Day 10
At home basketball games here in South Florida, the Miami Heat play a specific song at the end of every game if the team is leading and clearly going to win. It’s become a bit of a victory anthem, and I am quite sure the opposing team doesn’t like hearing the tune one bit. Defeat is demoralizing to the soul.
The Psalmist knows one thing for certain — the enemy will not be shouting in triumph over him because God delights in saving those He loves. God had promised to defend him, and David confidently believes his merciful Deliverer will always protect and preserve him.
Yes, our adversary may temporarily seem like he has the upper hand, but ultimately, no weapon formed against us will prosper. Our foe will be defeated forever.
Jesus prevailed over the accuser when He rose from the grave and defeated death. Our Savior pointed back to this exact Psalm as He addressed the disciples at the Last Supper (Matthew 26:20-25). Out of love, our Deliverer took on our shame to save us from all condemnation and set us free. He was scorned and rejected to extend to us the invitation to eternal life and welcome us in to God’s grace.
Friend, if you feel like you are fighting a battle that gets darker and more difficult, remind yourself of this truth: The battle has already been won, and you can sing a victory song as you wait for your final redemption. As you continue to trust in God, your heart will rest in His faithfulness and grow to love Him more deeply.
What your heart “knows” brings peace, confidence, and reassurance even when our circumstances seem out of control. Our God has protected us every day of our lives. He will remain present in our lives and uphold us today. The future rests securely in His sovereign care.
Friend, the enemy will not have the final word. Your trustworthy God will not fail you.
