STRIVE
Unstoppable Faith: Overcoming Adversity & Living Empowered by the Spirit - Day 26
After twelve years of employment, I was laid off on a Wednesday afternoon. I walked back to my office and pulled out an orange file folder where I had typed out instructions explaining how to complete all necessary tasks in my office. I placed it on the desk and left a note for whoever would sit there after I was gone. I wanted to leave that place with a clear conscience.
Paul tells his accusers that his convictions as a Christ follower do not contradict what the long held beliefs they hold as true. He worships the same God and holds the same hope in the resurrection as they do. His faith conforms to the Law, but he affirms that the Old Testament Scriptures testify of Christ. Contrary to the opinion of his adversaries, Paul does not stand as a “former Jew” in opposition to the religious leaders. Jesus, the Promised Messiah, has come, so now Paul worships Him as a “completed” Jew.
When you and I must respond to false accusations, we simply need to speak the truth. We can hold our heads up high if we honor God with our response. State your convictions with confidence.
The Holy Spirit has impressed the Truth of the gospel on our hearts, and we have the privilege of testifying that Jesus alone saves. We don’t need to fear how people will respond, we simply need to strive to keep our conscience dear by confessing we follow the risen Savior and place all our hope in Him.
