STABILITY
PSALMS - Day 1
A while back, I came across a video of a man who lived close to Yellowstone and discovered a limping fawn on his property that had been left behind by its mother. To protect the baby deer from predators, the man took her in his home, nursed her every four hours with a bottle of milk, and put a brace on her leg to help her walk. After a few weeks, he tried to return his charge to the wild and the care of mom, but the little one initially refused to leave his side. She’d found stability and had come to trust His hand.
The Psalmist has that kind of dependent trust in the Lord. He understands that He needs God to survive, and that in his own strength success is not possible. His security rests in God Almighty.
Today, you and I can know that God’s strength will carry us through whatever we are facing. Just as the Psalmist prayed for God to bless Him and bring the victory, we can cry out to God for favor and rest in His care. The Almighty will ultimately triumph over all the adversity we cannot handle on our own.
God loves us, and He will never fail to show up for us. We may feel like the world is falling apart all around us right now, but we can trust He will keep us standing and secure. He will hear our prayer, fully restore our joy, and give us a new song to sing.
