SECURE
PSALMS - DAY 6
In a 2022 article, the United Nations Development Programme published an article reporting that 6 out of every 7 people surveyed indicated that they were either moderately insecure or very insecure. This research study showed that the lines of race, education, or economic status did not help insulate individuals from fear. We all struggle to feel at peace in a world that seems increasingly unsafe.
Read back through Psalm 16 and look for the words “safe” or “secure.” You will see the Psalmist is fighting this same battle, and He threads the theme throughout his prayer.
Like the Psalmist, we can find rest from all the striving when we turn our focus away from everything that’s falling apart and fix our eyes on our faithful God. Take a deep breath and remind yourself of these unchanging truths found in verse 11:
God knows the way you need to go, and He will guide you. Your future is totally safe in His mighty hands. (Never forget He’s already made a way for you by sending Jesus.)
God has not left you here alone to figure things out without His help. You have the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit to teach you. As you trust Him, His presence will fill you with joy and peace. (Check out Romans 15:13.)
God has promised you an eternal inheritance in heaven, and your Almighty Heavenly Father reigns over all that concerns you.
Because God is your refuge, you rest secure forever and ever, Amen.
