SAVING HOPE
HOPE FULL: LET GO OF ANXIETY & LIVE WITH FAITH-FILLED ANTICIPATION - DAY 6
I like to tell people that my Aunt Caridad died way before she actually stopped breathing. You see, her husband had passed away many years before, and she never really stopped grieving. It was like the sadness had seeped into her soul, and she languished in her grief and altogether lost her joy for living. The saving hope that she had desperately held on to had perished.
The Psalmist is walking through a season of despair, and his weakened soul feels devoid of any strength. His longing for God to change his difficult circumstances threatens to crumble any resolve he has to live. But instead of letting his lament rule his response, this man of faith reminds himself of what he knows remains unchanging and certain:
The God of hope has promised to save him, and His Deliverer will prevail. His eternal future rests secure in the care of His faithful God.
When we place our hope in the outcome of our circumstances, we will always end up overwhelmed by our erratic emotions as our life fluctuates between joy and pain. Instead, we can resolve to wait on the Lord and remember His redemption will certainly come. Holding on to the promises in God’s Word fills our fainting souls with the faith to persevere through adversity.
Friend, the pain and suffering you and I experience here on earth will be overshadowed by the glorious victory we will enjoy in heaven for all eternity. Our saving hope will never perish, spoil, or fade. Let this sweet truth seep into your soul and fill you with a jubilant anticipation as you wait.
