REST EASY

I sat at my kitchen counter and stared out the window as the rain poured down in what seemed like an unending deluge. The gray light in the sky darkened the room and mirrored the way my soul felt. Nothing had turned out the way I had planned, and I was not sure how I was going to make it through another disappointment.

Have you been there? You are left with broken promises and unmet expectations, and your tomorrow just feels washed out and overcast — the trickle of fear and anxiety keeps drizzling down, and suddenly you question everything.

Friend, you and I are not alone as we try to push past the dreariness and believe that God has better days ahead for us. But here’s the thing we need to remember: God has not left us. If we look back, we can see how the Almighty Who created heaven and earth shows up with His grace in our despair. We can see how he took great care of one woman whose dreams were shattered. Even on her darkest day, her Redeemer had her under His wing, and His faithful love helped reshape her story.

You can rest easy. Ruth’s story reveals You are fully loved and have nothing to fear. You serve the same God, and He sees you. He knows you are working hard to do the right thing, and He will be your shelter.

Let’s spend 20 days slowly reading through Ruth together and learn to rest easy in the care of our Faithful Redeemer.
