OWN IT
Unstoppable Faith: Overcoming Adversity & Living Empowered by the Spirit - Day 1
I sat in my fifth grade classroom while the school nurse stood at the front of the classroom explaining to a room of 10 year old girls that “womanhood” was upon us. Soon, our bodies would begin to develop, and we would be experiencing many changes physically and emotionally. Honestly, the information I received seemed overwhelming. I mean, I just wanted to keep playing with Barbies. I wasn’t sure I was ready for “womanhood” and whatever that meant.
I smile now as I type this. I may have not been ready mentally, but God had designed my body with all the necessary components for what was to come. I didn’t need to strive to figure it all out — I simply developed naturally as God had planned. Instead of being overwhelmed, I just needed to “own it.”
To “own it” implies that you and I embrace with confidence our calling and trust we have been granted the ability to accomplish the task at hand. This is what the disciples had to do in Acts Chapter 1. They had to “own it.” Sure, they probably felt under qualified and ill-prepared for the task of sharing the gospel with the world, but God was ushering in a new season upon them.
And, you and I have this same calling. Ready or not, we are witnesses.
Friend, we don’t need to strive to figure it all out. God has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit to equip us with everything we need.
You and I have received the same power that the disciples in the book of Acts experienced.
Let’s “own it.”

Well said. I rarely feel confident enough to testify to another person...yet I now understand the Disciples probably felt the exact same way...and they are single-handedly responsible for the creation and development of everything in the early church. Thank you so much for this!🙏
