OUTPOURING
Battlefield Prayers: Pray Big for 30 Days and Fight for Breakthrough - Day 6
My eyes opened wide as I watched a television design show where the host stood in a remodeled shower under a large rainfall shower head. I imagined what it would feel like to turn on the water and let the deluge trickle down and cover my body. The rapid stream would truly be refreshing.
If only I could flip a switch and allow God to flood me with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit! On those days when I am feeling discouraged, I long for Him to fall on me afresh and renew me.
The truth is that God has promised to pour out His Spirit on all who call upon His name for salvation… and that includes you and me. On Pentecost just 50 days after Jesus laid down His life, the prophetic words spoken in Joel 2:28-32 where fulfilled when a violent wind came from heaven and filled the house where the disciples were sitting.
Before this outpouring, the Spirit only empowered priests and prophets for specific divine assignments, but now the Spirit of the resurrected Christ would come upon all believers to equip them to share the Good News. In the light of His grace, the generosity of our God would no longer make a distinction on who would receive this supernatural gift.
Today, we can ask God to pour out His Spirit on us and know that we will be refreshed with His joy and flooded with a deeper understanding of our God. His supernatural strength will fill us to the overflow, and His love will bubble up and spill out of our hearts.
PRAY BIG: Spirit, come fall afresh on me.
