OVERVIEW OF THE BOOK OF JAMES
External pressure can impact our internal disposition. James was written to help equip distressed and displaced believers just like us with much needed spiritual strength and wisdom. The letter begins and ends with a call to persevere even in the midst of hardship:
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” (James 1:12, NIV)
“You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.” (James 5:8, NASB).
