IN HIS SIGHT
STAND UP: DARE TO TRIUMPH DAILY OVER OPPOSITION ARMED WITH GOD’S ARSENAL OF SPIRITUAL WEAPONS (20 DAYS IN EPHESIANS) - DAY 1
My husband has an expensive pair of sunglasses that apparently make everything look more beautiful. We will be sitting side by side at a park on a sunny day, and he always wants me to put on his shades to get a more spectacular view of my environment. I am going to confess that I often fail to see things the way he does — even when I place those magical spectacles on my head.
Paul says that when we place our faith in Christ, we receive every spiritual blessing, and in God’s sight we are without blemish. I struggle to see that reality as well. Really? I don’t feel at all holy or blameless on most days. In fact, the shame of my sinful inclinations often makes me cringe. I am a flawed woman who desperately needs a Savior.
Yet, God does not regard you and I through the same lens that we view ourselves. Before we were even born, our Heavenly Father chose us. We belong to Him, and He sees us through the lens of grace. We may feel like a reprobate, but He has declared us redeemed.
The enemy of our soul loves to remind us about our sin and slime us with condemnation. What if today we stopped scrutinizing ourselves based on our weaknesses? What if we slowed down and relished in the beautiful gift of receiving God’s favor?
The Lord loves you and calls you His beloved child. He has set you apart as His very own and placed you here to display His beauty in this broken world. In His sight, you stand faultless because Jesus has clothed you in His righteousness.
