HEIGHTENED SECURITY
PSALMS - Day 6
In 1078, William the Conqueror commanded for a tall fortress to be erected in the center of London. The stronghold provided heightened security for the royal family during an attack from an enemy. His Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London still stands today as an imposing symbol of strength.
The Psalmist finds great confidence during a time of trouble because he knows that God is His “fortress.” The Hebrew word used here describes a high stronghold that provides a safe haven for God’s children and remains inaccessible to the adversary. The chaos may swirl all around, but from an elevated position, the protected look down at the tumult with no fear.
Friend, Almighty God stands with you. When you trust Him, you can rest confidently in His care. Come what may, you can run to Him for safe haven. Our Heavenly Father speaks and the powers of this earth melt. No weapon formed against you will prosper because the Lord of Hosts forever fights for you.
You need not fear though the earth seems to give way under your feet. Remind yourself you always have heightened security and speak this truth to your soul: God is within me. He is my refuge and strength. I will not fall.
