GOD CONFIDENCE
Unstoppable Faith: Overcoming Adversity & Living Empowered by the Spirit - Day 11
I looked down at my phone and read a text from my mentor that read: “I love your God Confidence.” We’d been texting back and forth about a desperate situation Bruce and I were walking through, and I’d basically confessed that I had no idea what the future might hold, but I was holding on to the promises from my faithful God for dear life to help me through the uncertainty.
That was about a year ago, and I still have no idea why God has allowed our family to face so much adversity, but my faith has grown through this season of affliction. I know I can’t make it without God’s strength, and the encouragement of His Word has comforted my weary heart.
Sometimes a heartbreaking season in our lives increases our capacity to trust God. In our desperation, we cry out to the God of compassion, and He sends us His Helper and Comforter. The encouragement we receive from the Holy Spirit builds up the foundation of our faith and helps us move forward with greater resolve.
The enemy sought to destroy the early church through persecution, but these believers turned to the Lord and received His unshakeable peace. Instead of being “torn apart” by all the turmoil, they grew in strength and unity.
When we fear the Lord and rely on His Spirit, we will be empowered to speak and act with courage. The opposition we face will become an opportunity for God to show off and do something spectacular in and through us.
May we move forward with God confidence trusting that the Spirit will provide the strength and encouragement we need for this day.
