COME AND SEE
PSALMS - DAY 6
“Come and see,” my husband said. He was smiling, and I could tell he had finished his work, and he wanted me to consider what he had done and confirm my approval of his efforts. I walked behind him into the bedroom and immediately started to voice my affirmation by “oooh-ing and aaah-ing” with a smile on my face.
The Psalmist has observed God’s awesome deeds, and he simply must declare His praises.
He shouts for joy.
He says: “Great is Your power.”
He sings of the Lord’s glorious name.
His high regard for the Almighty overflows out of his heart and escapes from his lips.
This is a believer who looks back and sees the history of God’s saving power. The same Redeemer who had parted the waters of the Red Sea to set his people from bondage years ago would certainly fight for him today. The foundation of His hope securely rested on His Deliverer’s faithfulness.
His public profession of faith serves as a testimony to others. “Come and see what God has done,” he graciously proposes. Consider the Savior who brought me out of bondage to a place of abundance, and He will transform your life.
Friend, the pages of our Bible are full of “come and see” invitations:
The prophet Isaiah foretold how the God of miracles would seek us out and reveal His majesty: “And I,because of what they have planned and done, am about to come and gather the people of all nations and languages, and they will come and see my glory.” (Isaiah 66:18, NIV)
And God Himself took on flesh and came down to earth. Jesus was His glory on display. “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip. (John 1:46, NIV)
After Lazarus died, Jesus arrived in Bethany and was met by his two grieving sisters. “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. (John 11:34, NIV) Moments before this exchange, Jesus had declared: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
Then,He raised Lazarus from the dead. This event foreshadowed the death, burial and resurrection of our Savior Himself. As a heartbroken Mary Magdalene wept at His tomb, an angel comforted her with these words: “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” (Matthew 28:6, NIV)
Today, we have the privilege of inviting others to “come and see” how God has delivered us and continues to deliver lost souls from sin, sorrow, and death. Every time we open our mouths to say how awesome our God is and whenever we sing His praise, we point to the glorious Redeemer who has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.
An Update from Lyli:
Hey, Friends,
After 2 delays, I am finally scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday. I have pre-set all the devotionals to go live for you.
But, I need to make a slight change to how we handle our “chat” feature for this week. The chat posts cannot be “pre-scheduled” in advance, so for this week, let’s just move the chat here to the bottom of the devotional post.
I may not chime in much this week in response to your comments, but I will catch up next week. Thanks for your prayers. I should only be in the hospital one night, and I have to be a good girl and rest for about 2 to 3 weeks. Thanks in advance for praying for me.
Your sis in Christ,
Lyli
Let’s Chat:
What are your takeaways after reading Psalm 66:5 in these 4 translations:
”Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind!” (NIV)
”Come and see the wonders of God; his acts for humanity are awe-inspiring.” (CSB)
“Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he performs for people!” (NLT)
”Take a good look at God’s wonders— they’ll take your breath away.” (MSG)
Lyli’s Takeaway: I love how God invites us to “come and see.” It’s a reminder to me that He is at actively at work to do amazing things on behalf of His beloved, but I need to stop and take notice and let His love for me fill me with worship.

As we share the goodness of God that we have experienced in our life with others, we proclaim His power and love.
God is awesome. When I reflect on all that He has done for me, I know I need to share this with this lost world.!
