In 2024, an Assembly Member in Los Angeles proposed a bill to initiate an apology for the state’s complicity in upholding slavery and promoting systematic racism. Better late than never, a repentant people can recognize their transgression and make reparations. There is not an expiration date on acknowledging our wrongdoing and asking for forgiveness.
